There is no date on this policy, because there is no policy for a date to attach to. When one is written, it will carry the day it took effect and the day it was last changed.

Who is responsible for your data

Neon & Smoke is an independent magazine run from Dallas, Texas. Which legal entity that is — a person, a sole proprietorship, a company — is not something we are going to state until we have it right, because it is the answer to “who do I complain to”.

What we collect, and when

Three places on this site can take something from you: the contact form, the newsletter sign-up and, when it exists, the submission route. What each one keeps, and why, is not yet written down here field by field.

Who else processes it

Your data would pass through a host, a form handler and a mailing-list provider before it reached us. We are not going to name companies here until the deployment is settled — a list that is wrong about where your address ends up is worse than no list.

Cookies and analytics

This build ships no third-party scripts, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. Whether that survives contact with the final host is the part we cannot promise yet, so we are not promising it.

How long it is kept

We have not set a retention period for enquiries, subscriptions or submissions. A number here would be a commitment, and we have not made one.

Your rights, and how to use them

Which rights you have depends on where you are — Texas and the wider US, or the UK and EU if you send us work from there — and on advice we have not taken yet. Listing them from a template is how people end up believing they have a right they do not have.
