For Kristopher Robin Ahng
The first time you led me by handto your immaculate sinkI popped up to sit on itYou showed me the ceramic cupbrush and razor
I added water to soapand lathered your bristly cheeks and chinYour blue eyes were the same shadeas robin eggs, I could see whyyour mother gave you that feminine middle name
You wedged yourself between my young legspressed until I heard belt buckle against counterThe room was unnaturally stillI’d always thought I would be too afraidto do this
The difficulty in the strokeit must go from bone to boneand somehow violate the hollow between
The word trust was never spokenand until that moment I hadn’t suspectedit would have a flavorhanging heavy in the space betweenmetallic and sweet.
