the first time i had chocolate, i fell in lovethe sweetness melted against my tonguechipped away at the enamel on my teethand left me hoping and searching for more
i discarded the meat, fruits, and vegetablespaying attention only to the confectionary goodsi collected from the grocery stores and markets
chocolate became part of my daily routinei brushed my teeth with chocolate syrupswooned over the sticky sap coating my mouthi loved drowning in the sugar and sweeti didn't need other sustenance; i had found my destiny
two weeks later, i suddenly felt sicki looked in the mirror, my chocolate-covered faceand realized what i had become
i collected the wrappers and boxesgrabbed clorox and scrubbed at the dried, brown residue in my bowls and plateswashed them 3 times and banished them to the dishwasher (just in case)then, did the same with my teethscrubbed until i could only remember the taste of colgate
an hour later, i realized i couldn't bear to live without chocolatethe next time i had chocolate, i fell in love
